7 ½ - A FILM OF SEVEN MORTAL SINS

A debut feature and black comedy in which the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins connects seven tales playing in the Novi Beograd district of Belgrade. Director Momčilović trains an unflinching gaze on the weaknesses of those who follow their own moral code – be it that two friends plan to rob Diego Maradona by pretending to be ill (“Avarice”), two cocktail party regulars accidentally devour a work of modern art (“Gluttony”), or two thieves are too lazy to climb up the stairs to a rich man’s apartment (“Sloth”). They want so little to be happy, an inner voice tells them, but don’t even get that much. However, even petty sinners deserve a moment of purity and salvation – and that much they do get.
