A WOMAN'S DECISION

Marta is left unfulfilled by the everyday routine of working for a company in the accounting department. Her husband lacks the youthful sense of adventure that she can sense in Jacek, an old college friend. When a case of fraud is uncovered at the firm where she is employed, the company is subjected to intensive auditing. This inspires Marta in turn to examine her private life in equally minute detail. She dares to liberate herself, but will the process also lead to happiness? Is it worth trying to escape life’s monotony? Zanussi’s extensive portrait of a woman’s awakening treats the struggle for emancipation and the limits thereof.
