The young surveyor Oldřich finds himself abruptly drained of all vital energy. His death seems inevitable until he is saved by the miracle healer Fišárek. Together, they identify television as the cause of the patient’s mysterious illness: they find out that doubles of anybody who ever appeared on TV continue to live on in the fantastic parallel world of a vast television studio. As soon as the originals sit down to watch TV, their replicas start to suck the energy they need to survive. Using the skills Fišárek has taught him, Oldřich begins to fight back. Audiences were especially captivated by the long sequences shot with classical animation techniques that made the film the most expensive Czech production to date.
