It’s been ten years since small-time gangster Hamro has left his hometown in Tajikistan to seek his fortune in Moscow. But nothing came out of it: Very soon he ended up in jail. Now he returns as a broken man. But the homecoming turns out different than expected. Old enemies appear at every corner to claim debts which had long been forgotten. Besides, the angry villagers demand that he finally acknowledges his ten-year old son whom he once left behind. And as if this wasn’t enough, Hamro also learns that his old mother lies on her death-bed. He wants to fulfill one last wish of hers. The garden gate which had been begun to be built years ago but never has been finished, shall be finished until her death, so her coffin doesn’t have to be lifted over the garden wall without dignity. With a unique negotiation method, Hamro persuades some villagers to not only built the gate but to renovate the whole house. In this way he not only fulfills his mother’s wish but increases the value of the house. With the proceeds he would be able to pay off all his debts and to then clear off with a nice profit.
