Shortly before commencing the air strikes on Yugoslavia in spring 1999, NATO urgently requisitions a vital radar system. The train transporting the equipment through Romania unexpectedly stops at a small station en route – and is prevented from continuing its journey by a stationmaster who says the correct papers are lacking. CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’ (ENDLESS) is based on true events. But whereas the real-life crisis was over after four hours, the involuntary sojourn in this prizewinning comedy lasts five whole days – plenty of time for clashes between the world-views of US-American NATO troops and Romanian villagers.
