In search of the lost film rolls of the Manaki brothers, responsible for the first Greek film in 1905, a director who has been living in the USA for a long time returns to his homeland. Like Odysseus before him, he wanders aimlessly through a Europe that has become unfamiliar, caught up in the political turmoil of the transition period. He ends up in Sarajevo, under siege by Serbs, where the archivist of the city’s film museum is hiding three rolls shot by the pioneering Greek brothers. Amidst the destruction of war, he finds the negatives from a bygone era. A surreal, at times visionary filmic meditation that interweaves contemporary and cinematic history with the journey of an individual.
