THE YOUNG FRITZ

Agitation-satire with references to Grigorij Kosinzev’s and Leonid Trauberg’s beginnings in the avantgardistic “Fabrik des exzentrischen Schauspielers” (Factory of the eccentric actor, FEKS). A fascist “skull measurer” gives a lecture on the superiority of the German race and introduces Fritz, born into a German lower middle class family, as a blueprint. Little Fritz who already wore a steel helmet in the crib, is trained to be a denunciator, thug, and soldier. Finally he ends up in a Soviet cage, presented as a fairground attraction.
