THE RIDE

Summertime. Radek and Franta, two friends with time on their hands but no cash to spare, start up their decrepit home-made convertible. They head for the countryside, sticking to the winding roads of southern Bohemia, where they are unlikely to encounter police who might scrutinize their vehicle’s false number plate. An obviously confused hitchhiker called Aňa joins them en route, and assures them she’s old enough to travel alone. The summer heat sees to the rest: a chain of youthful escapades encompassing everything playful pranks to sex and the longing for death, with a black car hot on the trio’s heels – the driver is Aňa’s jealous boyfriend.
