Tired of the constant provocations by his pupils, Josef Tkaloun, an ageing teacher of Czech, gives up his job. But he is not the kind of senior citizen to spend his days around the house or sitting on a park bench. Much to the displeasure of his wife Eliška, who sarcastically commentates his every move, he finally finds a job at the bottle drop-off point in a supermarket. Not content merely to take receipt of the empties and issue refund tickets, Tkaloun puts all his energy into bringing together the many lonely hearts who patronize the supermarket. He complicates matters further by starting to feel tempted himself, and his marriage teeters dangerously on the brink after the chaos and confusion begins.
