Seven years after his last feature film, veteran Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski is back with a new project. EO traces the path of its eponymous protagonist – a donkey – as it makes its way from a circus into the wilderness, hitches a ride on a livestock transporter and finally ends up on an aristocratic estate. All of the individuals encountered on the animal's journey represent diverse facets of contemporary Europe. At the same time, EO paints a unique, empathetic picture of its long-eared lead's emotional world, while revealing that EO is more than just a beast of burden along the way.
