EVERYTHING NEEDS TO LIVE

Competition

The film relates the story of Anna Kurkurina, a world champion in powerlifting and passionate animal rights activist. A lover of animals since childhood, she has worked as a biology teacher and in a zoo. At the age of 40, she began her career in weightlifting, eventually becoming the strongest woman in the world. However, her greatest struggle does not play out on the competition stage, but in the war-torn regions of Ukraine instead – where she fights for the survival of abandoned dogs and cats. While sirens wail and explosions rock the city, Anna stays by their sides, making sure strays stay fed, finding new homes for them and taking many of them in herself. EVERYTHING NEEDS TO LIVE depicts her tireless dedication to animals and humans, sheds light on her athletic career through archival footage and accompanies her on the job as a trainer in a gym. Especially touching is her empathetic approach to Dima, one of her protégés. Her advocacy on social media becomes a lifeline for distressed animals. In the midst of destruction and chaos, Anna remains a beacon of hope – strong, fearless and full of compassion. German Premiere
