FINE DEAD GIRLS
Symposium
When Mare and Iva move into a shabby apartment building, the neighbours strike them as a bizarre lot: a prostitute, a shy and frustrated bachelor who lives with his parents; a man who regularly beats his wife; another who keeps his wife’s mummified corpse in an armchair; a gynaecologist who performs illegal abortions. But when the two women are outed as lesbians, the absurd comedy rapidly turns into tragedy: hate and intolerance escalate into naked violence. A group of passing skinheads, caught in seemingly throwaway shots, point to the deeper social roots of the problem.
