Can we gain access to the innermost core of our identity formed in childhood and through relationships? GRANNY PROJECT accompanies three young men as they spend seven years delving into the lives of their grandmothers. Gudrun was a member of the cultural elite who were receptive to the Nazis; Rozanna was a British spy who decoded Nazi messages; Livia survived a concentration camp and became a teacher. The grandmothers' complex experiences, shaped by historical events, find themselves reflected in the destinies and personalities of their filmmaking grandsons: cameraman Ruben Woodin Dechamps, screenwriter and producer Meredith Colchester and director Bálint Révész.
