The work generally considered Karpo Godina’s best-known (and most notorious) short film won two prizes at Oberhausen but was immediately banned in Yugoslavia. Watching Godina’s visual accompaniment of a song that celebrates the multi-ethnic population of the Vojvodina region, one has to concede that the censors were perhaps justified in detecting an ironic take on the officially propagated image of fraternity and unity among the various ethnic groups.
