CCC (Central Cinema Company), founded by Artur Brauner in 1946, was among the largest and most productive film production companies in the German post-war period. goEast discussed and paid tribute to Brauner’s life’s work in 2015 with the Symposium "The Producer as Civil Engineer: Artur Brauner's Bridges between the Blocks". MARINA, MABUSE AND MORITURI tells the story of the oldest German independent film factory under family ownership, which is run these days by Brauner’s daughter Alice. The film traces the life path, heavily influenced by German history, of Polish-born Brauner, who as a Jew survived the Holocaust and subsequently managed to become the most important movie producer of his era in the country of the perpetrators. It is an impressive, informative and entertaining trip through 70 years of German cinema history, which is carried by the statements of extraordinary personalities and companions of Brauner’s. The portrait of a special individual, who devoted himself completely to his passion for cinema and was closely tied to Deutsches Filminstitut.
