Filmmaker Tamara Trampe was born in December 1942 in a Soviet trench near Voronezh. Her mother, a former Red Army nurse, speaks about this incredible story and other memories from her time at the front and the love of her life.
Tracing her family history, Tamara travels to Ukraine, where among other people she meets three former female partisan fighters who, like her mother, served in the gruesome struggle. The result is an emotional documentary portrait of these strong women, which brings the tragedy of war to life from an intimate, personal point-of-view, becoming part of an unfathomable tale.
