Six men, seven women, two children. Tamara Trampe reconstructs family history. She doesn’t know her father, an officer in the Red Army. As she travels to Russia after her mother’s death, the images and traumata of war rise to the surface again – not least of all due to the tanks on display everywhere and the omnipresent memorials to the Great War for the Fatherland. In an emotional, personal dialogue with her mother, from woman to woman, Trampe searches for traces of the past, together with Johann Feindt. Filmmaking is here a visible, perspectivistic method for re-examining a “time in which everyone experienced something different”, as Trampe’s mother put it.
