NOWHERE IN MORAVIA

Maruna lives together with her sister and her domineering mother in a little Czech village, where she runs a pub. She’s sleeping with the mayor, who lucked into his job more or less by accident, and – whenever the mood strikes her – with other men too, even though the selection of potential candidates is actually spread pretty thin. The same could be said for her perspectives for the future. Enough reasons to hit the road, you’d think. But the village inhabitants hardly let themselves get worked up about it. A satirical take on interpersonal entanglements out in the country, staged with a strong ensemble cast, which was honoured with several awards at the Czech Lions.
