NORMAL AUTISTIC FILM
Czech Cinema Now!
What is normally actually? Miroslav Janek’s film approaches the question through five moving portraits of children and adolescents with Asperger syndrome. All of them engage with life in very special ways: Denis plays the piano passionately, Lukáš makes everyone laugh, Majda raps about her frustration and siblings Marjamka and Ahmed lead a secure life surrounded by family and are still sometimes all alone in their world.
Over the course of two years, Janek accompanied his protagonists through the joys and challenges of their everyday lives. In a wonderfully sensitive manner, he manages to show what it means to perceive the world a little differently than most people and yet to not really be all that different when it comes down to it.
