PAPIER-MACHE

Competition

Who is Ivan Lashin? The gaunt little man lives together with his elderly mother in a small Russian town, trying to make ends meet with odd jobs while the debt collectors nip at his heels. Together with director Vitaliy Suslin, the very same Ivan Lashin wrote the screenplay for the film HEAD.TWO EARS, in which he played himself. The plot, in a nutshell: fraudsters convince gullible Ivan to take out loans from various banks, whereupon trouble ensues. The film was a hit in Russia: Lashin even put in an appearance on the red carpet at the Sochi Film Festival. Alas, now, years later, he has to deal with the consequences of his first film appearance, which has him once again playing a version of himself. He's not alone though: a cop, a girlfriend and, last but not least, his mom are all doing their damnedest to look out for Ivan Lashin.
