When the youth brass band Miglė leads is selected to participate in a municipal parade, things quickly begin to take an unfortunate turn for the tough teacher. First, Miglė ‘s daughter Gabriele causes a boy to knock one of his teeth out with his own trumpet during a performance. Next, Gabriele reveals that she would rather devote herself to capoeira instead of music. Finally, Miglė's ex-husband Eimantas informs the family that his mother has died. To top it all off, her ex now picks this extremely inopportune moment, as her orchestra ensemble is preparing to play for the aforementioned procession in a provincial Lithuanian town, to ask her for a big favour: he wants Miglė to petition a Catholic court to have their marriage annulled. Although the two have been legally separated for over 20 years, and Miglė has been happily remarried for a while now, it's the least she can do for her ex-husband, to help him take his place in front of the altar again…isn't it?
Titas Laucius' fiction-feature debut is a brilliantly staged comedy, complete with a match of wits against the church tribunal, in which relationship constructs reveal themselves to be as absurd as Catholic dogma itself.
