PARASITE

Symposium

An old man, a young woman, a baby. The precise nature of their connection remains unexplained. They spend their days together, but their life is not so much shared as conducted along parallel lines. A factory dominates the man’s dreams in his old age: did his life once revolve around that place of work? The woman yearns for freedom as she builds her life around her child’s needs. Consumerism remains to them as an escape from emptiness. In fragments meandering between the abstract and the real, Anka and Wilhelm Sasnal show more than they tell. The two directors are working outside contemporary filmmaking conventions in their country, but very much in the tradition of the Polish New Wave.
