Budapest, summer of 1956. On Rose Hill, one of the city’s most beautiful boroughs, party-functionary Gábor lives with his family in a stately mansion. His ten-year-old daughter Panka and her little brother Miška have what seems like an idyllic childhood – but a dark secret wears on the two children: they have stolen a letter from their father that contains the photo of a beautiful blonde named Lolo, who seems to matter a great deal to him. With the uprising, the family’s idyllic life begins to fall apart. Even worse: the children believe that their theft of the letter is connected with the political events.
