Seven anecdotes drawn from the lives of the Nenets people and the Russian population which traverse the history of the 20th century. The film relates the conflicts within the Nenəj nenəče community as well as their confrontations with the USSR. The stories here revolve around World War Two soldiers, outcasts and things that never change – above all the giving and taking of life. This work is among the most well-known realised by Lehmuskallio and Lapsui, and was their first feature film in the Nenets language.
