Juliusz Machulski, one of Poland’s most successful and uncompromising comedy filmmakers, brings screwball comedy together with science-fiction satire. Two scientists consent to being frozen for a scientific experiment that goes wrong: instead of waking up three years later, they don’t regain consciousness until 2044. The planet has been devastated, men are extinct, and the women have installed a totalitarian regime. The last two representatives of the stronger sex must now become women as well. But they are able to flee – thanks to their guard, once a militant feminist turned into a submissive little woman by the very first kiss. An analysis of the war of the sexes, of feminism and rabid masculinity, each potentially leading to totalitarian structures.
