SILENT SOULS

When Miron’s beloved wife dies he asks his best friend to help him take his leave. He wants to bury her in accordance with the cultural rites of the Merya, an ancient Finno-Ugric people who lived by Lake Nero. The two men set out on their long journey, with them the corpse and two small birds in a cage. And Miron finds himself confronted by the realization that he was not the only man in his wife’s life… Masterfully playing in the grey area between fact and fiction, the road movie based on the novel by Denis Osokin was distinguished with the OSELLA prize for technical achievement at Venice in 2010.
