Tanya works as a taxi driver in a small town 101 kilometres away from Moscow. It’s the kind of place where everybody knows everybody else– if not in person, then via mutual friends. The conversations in her taxi often take an intimate turn, and drunken confessions are not unusual. Although the switchboard has allocated Tanya the code number five, she’s number one when it comes to human relations. Her heart’s in the right place even if she’s got a big, loud mouth. TANYA, NUMBER 5 portrays a young single parent who’s doing her best to cope with life despite adverse circumstances.
