The homeless, anthropophobic tomcat Teofrastus Bombastus Filippus Auteolus von Hohenheim is taken in one day by a man, who brings the feral feline to his wife and their shared home out in the country. Alas, his newfound happiness is overturned all too soon when the family moves to the big city. Chafing at his apartment captivity, the tomcat makes his escape. Exposed to urban dangers and the occasional bad-tempered human, Teofrastus searches for a new oasis of peace and happiness.
