THE BALCONY
Open Frame Award
Three men– a bishop, a general and a judge – live out their fantasies of dominance in a brothel with a sex worker, who is also the camerawoman for the scene. In the struggle for power over the narrative, sadistic and masochist desire is negotiated, veiled and uncovered. The actual author of the image is exposed to the gaze of a second witness. Sound effects, music and montage sequences interrupt the narrative continuity. Dubbing and voice-over serve to increasingly complicate the relationship between reality and fiction.
