THE BARBED-WIRE FENCE

80 Years after WWII

During the Second World War, a group of anti-colonial revolutionary fighters trapped in a Dutch prison camp is plotting their escape. Parman, who pretends to be a teacher, strikes up a friendship with the new camp commander – he and the Dutch officer engage in lengthy discussions about freedom, independence and oppression. Commander Koenen once opposed the Nazis as an underground resistance fighter in Europe, but now he plays a key part in perpetuating the colonial regime in Indonesia.
