It seems like things must be rolling forward – alas, in many regions the exact opposite is the case: individuals are forced to bear the costs of progress, left behind or simply forgotten. In short video messages on YouTube, they turn to President Vladimir Putin for help, as long ago those seeking favour lined up at the Czar's gate. Their concerns are many and diverse: from lack of internet access to domestic violence to suspicious deaths. Andrey Gryazev weaves the short clips, some of which have only received a handful of streams, into a loud cry for help, rendering visible the misery that haunts many parts of the country.
