Jakub is a teacher in his mid-30s. When his dad kicks him out of their flat one day, he decides to move into his deceased grandfather’s run-down country house. Here he finds an older, mirror-im-age diary that tells an alternative genesis closely connected to the garden on the property. In this enchanted setting, Jakub encounters biblical and historical revenants, eager to share their wisdom, as well as the Blessed Virgin-like Helena. Jakub undergoes a spiritual transformation, breaking off old associations and discovering his own version of inner peace. THE GARDEN is a fairy-tale-like, serene film in the tradition of the Czechoslovakian New Wave.
