The young teacher Jakub is at odds with his father – he’s also having his midlife-crisis. He retreats to the solitude of a garden, where he hopes to escape from his passionate, but obsessive lover Tereza. For him, the garden becomes a magical place where he realizes much about himself and his life. In several “chapters” with symbolical and allegorical subjects, he meets strange people who disturb his idyllic setting and make him contemplative. It is here that he meets “wonder-working” Helena, who becomes his one true love. In Germany, ZÁHRADA was a great success on the art house-circuit.
