THE GRASS IS GREENER EVERYWHERE

Symposium

In order to get to New York, the city of his dreams, as he thinks, Jerzy leaves behind him first Warsaw then West Berlin. But the feeling that he needs to flee soon returns – only where next? The depiction of the three stations in his journey is so bleak that they seem almost interchangeable, mere backdrops against which the “heroes” of the tales act as if they are hired extras in their own lives. Nonchalant and visionary in equal measure, Michael Klier’s first feature-length fiction anticipates global migratory movements. Moments in a post-industrial re-assessment recorded from below, so to speak.
