THE HAMLET SYNDROME follows the theatre rehearsals of five young Ukrainians seeking to process their wartime experiences in a new interpretation of Shakespeare's "Hamlet". On stage, they are forced to relive their trauma and faced with conflicts that emerge within the group due to divergent political opinions and visions for the project. Although the play premiered prior to 2022, it is more relevant than ever. THE HAMLET SYNDROME combines literature, theatre and cinema into an emotional portrait of lived reality in a war-torn region and the scars that armed conflict leaves behind.
