THE LINE

In a smooth international collaboration, Slovak small-time gangster Adam smuggles cigarettes across the border between Slovakia and the Ukraine.  He jams regularly with his band, which happens to include the local police chief, his marriage is full of passion and his employees are loyal. Alas, this idyllic life bears an expiration date: with Slovakia’s entrance into the Schengen group of nations the border is destined to close and both Adam’s immediate and business families are going to have to adapt to the new rules. A fast-paced, entertaining thriller (featuring a soundtrack driven by Balkan beats) that manages to impress through compelling performances by the ensemble cast and fascinating filming locations.
