THE TRAIN STOP

Portrait

TRIPLE FEATURE
A collection of people, shadowy outlines, cowering together at that train stop, a station, waiting almost lifelessly, united in sleep. Only their breathing betrays their worldly existence. But what are they waiting for? Loznitsa communicates to us an elegy of standstill in which the impetus of movement is derived almost exclusively from the background noise, from sources not visible on the screen. Yet motion and standstill are peculiarly harmonious, while the contemplative camera forces us to wonder when humankind will wake up and leave that place.
