CONVICTIONS
Oppose Othering!
This documentary film follows the attempts of four young men to get out of compulsory military service in Russia. In order to qualify for civil service, they must first persuade the members of a committee. Roman, Lyosha, Victor and Johnny have diverse reasons and ways to do this. While following their argumentation, we come into contact with LGBT activism, literary and political inspirations or personal experiences that provide the pacifist convictions of the protagonists with a solid foundation in the midst of a militarised society. A film that raises hope for resistance to a repressive, chauvinist system.
