Alla Churikova's carefree childhood plays out under the shadow of the hammer and sickle, in a military settlement at the base of the Urals. Her father, a Soviet officer, often spends months stationed elsewhere with his unit. During secret nuclear testing, he is exposed to high doses of radiation, enough to hospitalise him. Several decades later, he dies of the long-term effects. Now, Alla re-examines these experiences in this short animated documentary film, in an attempt to process the events of the past.
