THE METAMORPHOSIS VR

Open Frame Award

Based on the famous novella by Franz Kafka, viewers awake in this interactive work to find themselves in the skin of one Gregor Samsa, not only late for work but also transformed inexplicably into a giant insect. We experience the alienation of Kafka's classic text through immersion in the hyper-realistic body of an insect – with six legs, mandibles and antennae – while surrounded by Gregor's possessions: books, papers and drawers filled with items that viewers can explore, as their family members pound on the bedroom door from the outside, demanding an explanation.

This project is part of the OPEN FRAME AWARD exhibition, shown at DFF Frankfurt and Museum Wiesbaden.
