In 1969, as the first humans are landing on the moon, Hannah and her family flee to Germany in the aftermath of the Prague Spring. Her father would rather be in Italy, her mother succumbs to shopping fever, her little sister soon refuses to speak Czech and 13-year-old Hannah misses her grandfather Zikmund. The West German pop and consumer culture of the 1970s seems like an alien planet to the eyes of the refugee girl. With her successful debut film, director Iva Švarcová processed a piece of her own past some 30 years after the fact. A clever reflection on German and Czech history.
