WINTER FLIES

14-year-old Mára runs away from home in a stolen car, flanked by his buddy Heduš. Over the course of their adventure, they fantasize about girls, sure, but also display a fair amount of integrity and take on responsibility. Alas, their illicit game is constantly in danger of being discovered by the adult world. The two partners in crime are crafty and resourceful, not to mention bold: they're not afraid to deceive the powers that be if that's what it takes to keep moving. An impressive, multi-award-winning coming-of-age story wrapped in a road movie that meanders poignantly through the frost-covered Czech countryside.
