TO THE "LUCKY HARBOR". A FILM ABOUT THE WEST

Symposium

Documentary about Germany on the eve of the world economy crisis, when social-democratic “conciliators” tried to draw the attention from the increasing social conflicts by using slogans about the possible idyll of private happiness. The film, which is also conceived as an answer to Walter Ruttmann’s BERLIN – SYMPHONY OF A BIG CITY, uses impressive pictures and editing to show the reality behind the facade. The director had to edit pictures of the radically increasing social conflicts at the end of the Twenties into the finale. Still, this film didn’t make it to the cinemas and remained mostly unknown until now.
