MEIN LIEBSTER KRIEG
Symposium
Ilze's childhood in Soviet Latvia is initially a carefree one. Driven by the desire to become a journalist and emulating her father, she devotes herself to the party cause from an early age, enthusiastically serving in the Young Pioneers and writing for the organisation's newspaper. Alas, as she ages, she begins to notice more and more inconsistencies in the party propaganda, as well as things that contradict her own everyday experiences in the Soviet Union, especially regarding her family. With this animated documentary film, Ilze Burkovsky-Jacobsen shares both her own coming-of-age story and that of Latvia's emancipation from the Soviet Union.
